“Cambodia has so much potential and with the welcome development of the Cambodian Tourism Board, the time is now right to come together to support the promotion of its natural heritage and opportunities for soft adventure to the world.”

“The Cambodian Ecotourism Network concept is inspired by the success of the Romanian Ecotourism Association in strengthening public and private cooperation to now position the country as a leading ecotourism destination in Europe.”

Gavin envisions the Cambodia Ecotourism Network as a collective voice for the sector, working to showcase the kingdom’s vast eco-tourism potential on a global scale.

Indeed, with plans for potential hosting by WWF Cambodia, the event was also a platform to encourage greater involvement from industry players to strengthen the network’s structure and mission.

The invitation set the tone for the evening as an opportunity to catch up with old colleagues, make new connections, and promote sustainable tourism offerings, all within the vibrant and eco-conscious atmosphere of Maloop.

Powered by Sihanoukville Adventure Club, this premier water sports event promises an unforgettable adventure over the course of several days, establishing Bay of Lights and Sihanoukville as the go-to destination for adventure seekers, international brands, and watercraft associations. 

The Jet Ski Masters is poised to boost tourism in the coastal region, attracting attention from participants  and visitors from Cambodia and beyond. Located in Phnom Penh’s Koh Pich, which translates to ‘Diamond Island’, is the city’s first 18-hole miniature golf course. With a vision to introduce Phnom Penh to the game of mini golf, the founders aimed to provide “a nice outdoor hangout location for an everyday chilling after work or school.” 

Naturally, we sat down with the founders to discover how this game-changing outdoor space has become a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

A Unique Outdoor Retreat

According to the founders, the original idea for this venture was simple yet profound: to create “a green park” where people could spend time in a sociable environment, free from the distractions of technology. The founders wanted to ensure that the mini golf course offered “group entertainment with friends or families,” making it the perfect destination for relaxation and connection.

Since its inception, the course has hosted numerous group bookings for company team-building events and school outings, allowing guests to engage in friendly competition. Additionally, they offer a garden scavenger hunt game that is “customized to many different levels of difficulties for every age audience,” ensuring that everyone can join in on the fun.

Highlights and Future Endeavors

Over the past two years, this charming mini-golf haven has proudly hosted a multitude of exciting events, including the Amcham Summer Festival, the Breathe Festival, and several successful mini-golf tournaments. The Saturday Kids Club and summer camps in partnership with local organizations have kept young minds engaged and active.

Reflecting on these achievements, the founders have shared, “We have had the honor to host a few big events happening in the past two years.” Looking ahead, they plan to expand their event offerings, promising more community engagement and opportunities for guests to create lasting memories.

What sets this mini golf course apart is its vibrant atmosphere, filled with laughter and excitement. The founders note, “The best part about the Mini Golf for us is the sound of groups of people’s excitement when they got a hole-in-one and claim their free drink as a reward.” This unique aspect of the experience encourages interaction and bonding among visitors, making it an ideal destination for strengthening friendships and family ties.

A Community-Focused Approach

The mini golf course not only offers recreational activities but also enriches the community by providing a safe and engaging environment for people of all ages. It offers a fun and sociable experience for families, friends, and individuals, encouraging socialization and friendly competition. As the founders emphasize, “Mini golf provides a recreational activity that is accessible to people of all ages and abilities.”

The DIB Club offers a refreshing swimming pool and delicious food and drinks, while The Glasshouse restaurant caters to all-day dining needs. For those seeking even more adventure, Coconut Park and the CIS Roller Skate Dome are just a short stroll away.

A Personal Touch for the Community

The heart and soul behind this mini golf haven are the husband-and-wife duo who dared to dream big. “My husband and I set up this Mini Golf together. He’s British and has been living in Cambodia for 16 years. I am Cambodian, born and raised here.” Their shared love for mini golf and the desire to bring something unique to Phnom Penh spurred the creation of this green retreat.

Having previously run a soft skills training company that faced challenges during the pandemic, they saw the opportunity to pivot and fulfill a long-held wish—“opening up the first mini golf in Phnom Penh.”
